Student Affairs

Student Media

Influence your community.

From The Sandspur, WPRK, and The Independent, student-run media is thriving at Rollins. Representing the student conscious of the Rollins College campus, our Student Media serves to provide students various platforms to express their beliefs, concerns, and other matters that the student body should be aware of. It also provides a outlet to share the world's arts such as music and radio with WPRK, as well as literary and painted art with Brushing

The Sandspur

The Sandspur, founded in 1894, is published weekly on Thursdays and maintains a circulation of 700 print copies. Keeping Rollins College updated on all current events, as well as informing readers to the opinions of various Rollins students, The Sandspur serves to keep printed news alive and well at Rollins College. With a rich history and a deep-rooted reputation on the Rollins College campus, The Sandspur is a great way to catch up on all the latest happenings across campus and across the nation as well.

As an entirely student-run publication, the views expressed in The Sandspur in no way reflect those of Rollins College or its Board of Trustees.

WPRK 91.5 FM

"The best in basement radio and the voice of Rollins." This is heard many times daily on WPRK, which is broadcast live on 91.5FM in Central Florida and online worldwide. Live DJs, ranging from students to faculty to community members, broadcast new indie music and an eclectic mix of musical genres that are rarely played on commercial airwaves. Founded in 1952, WPRK has built a respected reputation throughout the state of Florida. WPRK also hosts our annual fun-packed Fox Fest, an eclectic concert that serves as a celebration for local musicians in the Winter Park and Orlando areas.

The Independent

The Independent is the student-run magazine that showcases the voices of writers, artists, and intellectuals at Rollins College. The magazine serves as a forum for students, faculty, and members of the local community to share their research, artwork, travel experiences, political opinions, and much more. The Independent strives to publish articulate, audacious journalistic pieces that will both educate its readers and motivate them to form their own independent world views.

Brushing Arts and Literary Journal

Poems, short stories, photographs, and other forms of artistic expression can be submitted to Brushing, an annual journal published every Spring. Unique amongst the other platforms of expression in Student Media, Brushing provides a way for the student to share their literary and artistic genius to a grander audience. Bursting with many different genres of literature, art forms, and other related forms of expression, Brushing gives Rollins College an inside look at the blooming artistic minds of Rollins students.
