15th Annual Summit on Transforming Learning: Pre-Conference Keynote Speaker

The Quest For Environmental Justice, Dr. Robert D. Bullard

The Summit will begin the evening of Thursday, February 20th at 7:00pm with a pre-conference keynote by Dr. Robert D. Bullard, Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University. Often described as the father of environmental justice, Bullard is the former Dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs and award-winning author of eighteen books that address sustainable development, environmental racism, urban land use, industrial facility siting, community reinvestment, housing, transportation, climate justice, disasters, emergency response, and community resilience, smart growth, and regional equity (sponsored by Thomas P. Johnson).

Dr. Robert D. Bullard, recognized as the “father of environmental justice,” will speak about how ecological pollution and degradation excessively affect poor, minority, and politically powerless people.  Dr. Bullard is a Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University.  The award-winning author of eighteen books has focused on issues including sustainable development, environmental racism, urban land use, community reinvestment, and regional equity.  He is co-founder of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ Climate Change Consortium.
