Ragnar Kjartansson: Sunday Without Love
On view in 2028
A transformative acquisition for the Rollins Museum of Art, Sunday Without Love by Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson will be part of the inaugural installation of the museum’s permanent collection in its new facility in early 2028. The work, a single-channel video of a pastoral scene, presents a dialogue between imagery and music, establishing points of contact with the past and the present and across technologies. Installed in a new, state-of-the-art projection gallery, Kjartansson’s piece includes layers of references that evoke multiple experiences of love, memory, emotions, longing, and loss.
The presentation of this significant work underscores the museum’s commitment to artistic innovation and experimentation. Its acquisition, as the latest addition to The Alfond Collection of Contemporary art, illustrates the continued growth of the museum’s collection and its role as a unique resource for learning and experiencing world-class art in the region.
Sunday Without Love will debut in tandem with the exhibition With Love, Rollins Museum of Art, which will be on view on the main floor of the museum.
