A Weekend That Feels Like Home

Decades of Rollins alumni returned to Winter Park for Alumni Weekend ’26, bringing a palpable energy to campus. For many, it’s a tradition they wouldn’t miss: a chance to reconnect with friends, revisit nostalgic spots, and celebrate the enduring spirit of Rollins.

The warm weather and scenic views certainly help, but what truly brings alumni back year after year is the connections formed and the community that continues welcoming them back to the neighborhood with open arms.

Tradition, Reimagined

With more than 20 events across four days, Alumni Weekend offered something for every Tar. Family-friendly gatherings, social celebrations, and opportunities to learn and connect were among some of the standouts.

The Grove Party took center stage, moving to Mills Lawn and bringing the weekend’s signature party to the heart of campus. Featuring live music from DJ Dorrell Briscoe, dean of religious and spiritual life at Rollins, alumni-founded Tessakē Premium Junmai Bubbly Sake, and dedicated alumni-hosted tents, the evening struck just the right balance between reunion and celebration.

Throughout the weekend, milestone moments unfolded. The Class of 1976 celebrated their 50th reunion and induction into the esteemed Order of the Fox society, generations of Tars gathered on Cahall-Sandspur Field to mark 70 years of Rollins Men’s Soccer, and 75th reunion attendee Stan Rudd proudly represented the Class of 1951.

New Moments, Lasting Impact

Alongside beloved traditions, new experiences shaped Alumni Weekend ’26.

RollinsFest debuted Saturday evening, inspired by the spirit of Fox Day with live music from The Smoking Jackets, lawn games, crafts, and a laid-back atmosphere that brought alumni and families together—despite unexpected rain at the end of the evening.

Professional development sessions exhibited the value of lifelong learning within the Rollins community. Dr. Rick Bommelje ’74, ’76 MSM, ’78 EdS presented on the power of listening and Eddy Moratin from Lift Orlando shared insights on the importance of curiosity and continued growth.

The weekend also honored the 2026 Alumni Award recipients, whose achievements reflect the impact of a Rollins education. Thane Maynard ’76 and Robert “Navy Bob” Roncska ’22DBA received the Fred Rogers Global Citizenship Award. Alexandria Crawford ’16 was presented with the Alumni Service Award, Zoe Mack ’15 received the Young Alumni Achievement Award, and William “Bill” Noah ’82 was recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Chris Russo ’82, also a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, was unable to attend Alumni Weekend and will be recognized at the Rollins New York City Club event on May 12.

Wrapping Up The Weekend

Alumni gathered and lingered over Sunday brunch to close out the weekend. Many also explored the Rollins Museum of Art and revisited the campus that continues to impact their lives and careers.

Alumni Weekend is more than a series of events. It’s a celebration of the relationships, traditions, and shared purpose that define Rollins, reflecting a community that lives out the mantra of “Life is for service.” No matter how much time passes, Rollins continues to draw alumni back to the neighborhood.
