College of Liberal Arts Graduation Information

Rollins College graduates College of Liberal Arts students three times during the academic year at the end of the spring, summer, and fall terms, upon completion of all degree requirements. 

December graduates should attend the Grad Fair in the Fall and Spring graduates should attend the Grad Finale in the Spring to place orders for cap & gown, secure guest tickets, confirm the name for the diploma, and preview graduation memorabilia and announcements offered by Jostens Inc. Petition to Graduate

The Petition to Graduate is open for submission ONLY in the Fall and Spring terms during the Online Registration Period. See the Academic Calendar for exact dates.

Students should submit the Petition to Graduate in the term PRIOR to the graduating term.

Students who miss the deadline to file the petition will have graduation deferred to the next available date.

The status of petitions will be communicated to students via Rollins Email prior to the start of the graduating term.

Steps to Take:

  • Review the College Catalogue. The catalogue provides detailed information on academic requirements, residency, GPA, semester hour credits, and other clarification.
  • Meet with your Academic Advisor and/or the Senior Advisor, Mae Fitchett,, to review your DegreeWorks audit and verify requirements are being satisfied.
  • Ensure that all outstanding transcripts from other institutions for study abroad or transfer credit have been received and courses assessed on your record. It is the student's responsibility to request transcripts be sent TO Rollins College FROM other institutions attended.
  • File a Petition to Graduate through FoxLink once a review of your DegreeWorks audit is completed.

When to File the Petition to Graduate:

AMP Students-File two terms in advance of CLA graduation date in Spring of junior year DURING the Online Registration Period
To graduate Fall - File in the PRIOR Spring term DURING the Online Registration Period
To graduate Spring - File in the PRIOR Fall term DURING the Online Registration Period
To graduate Summer - File in the PRIOR Fall term DURING the Online Registration Period; must also Petition to Participate in Commencement
Note to AMP Petitioners: If you plan to apply to the Crummer School of Business to begin Crummer classes for the Fall term of your senior year while at the College of Liberal Arts, you must file the Petition to Graduate in the prior Spring of your junior year, probably around the same time you apply formally to Crummer.
The date of graduation you will indicate on the petition form is the last term you will be an undergraduate student while attending Crummer.  This is typically the second term of Crummer courses in the Spring term. You will be awarded the undergraduate degree and may attend Commencement while still enrolled and taking Crummer graduate courses.
You will then finish your Crummer program as a Crummer student and are eligible to attend the Crummer Commencement to receive the MBA diploma.  If you have questions please contact Tres Loch, Director of Business Advising, .
Note to students planning to Study Abroad: If you plan to study abroad within two terms prior to graduation, including summer, a Petition to Graduate must be filed prior to leaving. 

If the Study Abroad term is the graduating term, be aware that if official grades are not received prior to the intended graduation date then graduation will be deferred to the next available graduation date.

Summer Graduates

Eligibility for Commencement Participation by Summer Petitioners

Students who petition to graduate in Summer must be in good standing and able to complete degree requirements in 8 credit hours or less in the summer term by August 31.

Students must submit a verifiable plan for completing outstanding requirements and appropriate registration or transfer credit approval as part of their Petition to Participate.

If a course is taken at another institution outside of Rollins College, the student is responsible for submitting the final official transcript from the other institution to the Office of the Registrar for addition to the Rollins record.

The Petition to Participate in Commencement form will be sent electronically, by request, to students who have petitioned to graduate, are eligible to petition to march in commencement, and will finish degree requirements during the summer.  The form and all supporting documentation must be submitted to Student Records by March 31.  To request the form please schedule a meeting with the Senior Advisor, Mae Fitchett at

Honors Awarded

The following honors will be notated on the transcript and in the Commencement Guide for both artium baccalaureus honoris and artium baccalaureus students who meet requirements.


The required GPA for the honors distinction is as follows:

  • Cum Laude (with honor): 3.5 - 3.69
  • Magna Cum Laude (with great honor): 3.7 - 3.89
  • Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor): 3.9 - 4.0


Honors in the Major Field provides for independent research or special study during the senior year under the supervision of a three-member committee in the student's major. Satisfactory performance on an approved thesis or individual project, oral examination, and maintenance of the averages below qualifies a student for Honors in the Major Field, which is shown on the student's official academic transcript. To be eligible for Honors in the Major Field, students must:

  • Achieve a minimum overall GPA of "C+" (2.33) for all courses at Rollins.
  • Achieve a minimum overall GPA of "B+" (3.33) for all courses taken in the major at Rollins.
  • Receive endorsement of the committee for participation in the program.


Candidates for the ABH Degree must:

  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA average of 3.33 to continue in the program and earn the degree.
  • Earn a grade of "B" or better for a two-term Honors in the Major Field project.
  • Latin honors will also be awarded based on the cumulative GPA with the same numerical criteria as the rest of the College.
