Business professor Serina Al Haddad and Simon Urban ’20 have co-published a peer-reviewed journal article in the International Journal of Logistics Economics and Globalisation. The publication marks a win for Rollins’ undergraduate business program, which was recently rated one of the top in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

The article, titled “Waste in Logistics 4.0 Systems and Applicable Lean Methods: Interviews with Experts,” contributes a unique analysis of Logistics 4.0 and lean logistics and reports the results of interviews with experts in the field of international companies and logistic service providers. It continues by exploring what types of waste are likely to exist in Logistics 4.0, which types could evolve, and which could be removed.

The results of this paper indicate that all eight types of waste continue to exist in a Logistics 4.0 environment, while a new type of waste and new forms of existing waste are emerging.
