Latin American and Latinx Studies Symposium

Join us Friday, April 3rd, 2020 at Rollins College.

The Latin American and Latinx Studies Symposium is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Studies program at Rollins College.  The symposium will be held on Friday, April 3rd, 2020 at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.  Undergraduate students will share their research on themes related to current domestic and foreign issues in Latin America and the Latinx population in the United States. 

Prior to 2018, the symposium was held for 25 years at Birmingham Southern College, in Birmingham, Alabama. For 2019, we renamed the symposium to include Latinx Studies. We are excited for this opportunity, and look forward to seeing you in Winter Park!


The cost to attend LALSS is $40.00.  The fee covers registration materials, breakfast, lunch, and a reception, the evening of the symposium.

The cost to attend LALSS for students presenting at the symposium is 20.00.

Submit a Proposal

The Latin American and Latinx Studies symposium is a multi- and inter-disciplinary undergraduate research conference showcasing original research and creative projects conducted during the preceding year by undergraduate students. Undergraduate papers on any topic relevant to Latin American Studies may be accepted: politics and culture, the global economy, literature, the environment, public health, gender, and art, for example.

Papers may be presented in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Selected proposals on similar topics may be combined into a panel presentation.
