Rollins Ranked Among Nation’s Best Colleges for Transfer Students

For the fourth consecutive year, Rollins has been named among the nation’s top schools for transfer students. The College is one of only 150 other institutions to be recognized on the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2021 Transfer Honor Roll, which recognizes the country’s best four-year institutions at creating dynamic pathways to support transfer students.

Phi Theta Kappa is the premier honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate-degree-granting colleges and helping them grow as scholars and leaders.

Colleges were chosen for the honor roll based on their Transfer Friendliness Rating on PTK Connect, an online tool to help students find transfer opportunities, including scholarships and career pathways. The rating is based on a college’s admissions practices, cost of attendance, campus life, recruitment practices, and peer reviews. Only the top 25 percent highest-rated colleges among 1,000 were named to the 2021 Transfer Honor Roll.

“The Transfer Honor Roll reflects the growing importance of recognizing and responding to the needs of transfer students,” says Phi Theta Kappa president and CEO Lynn Tincher-Ladner. “This award is given to four-year colleges and universities with proven outcomes for transfer success. They are the best at providing a supportive and smooth transition from community college, equating to increased rates of bachelor’s degree attainment for transfer students.”

Wyatt Deihl ’21 transferred to Rollins, where he earned a Truman Scholarship and designed his own major in health, medicine, and society.

The College’s streamlined application process allows transfer students to be automatically considered for merit scholarships of up to $24,000 per year in addition to need-based aid. One-on-one attention from advisors, dedicated professors, small classes, and peer mentors help transfer students adapt and thrive on America’s most beautiful campus.

“Rollins' community and support for transfers is what attracts students to come here,” says Lindsay Clark ’11 ’15 MBA, director of transfer admission. “Transferring can be a daunting experience, but Rollins makes it as seamless as possible. In addition, the Rollins transfer seminar course helps students acclimate to campus. It helped smooth the transition for Wyatt Deihl ’21 in 2018 from Indian River State College, where he was the former Phi Theta Kappa president.

“The transfer course provided a strong community of support throughout my time here, and the Rollins community has played a pivotal role in my success,” says Deihl, a Truman Scholar who created his own major in health, medicine, and society and has been accepted to a host of prestigious graduate programs, including Yale and Columbia.
