Rollins welcomes Robert Sanders as the new dean of the Hamilton Holt School.

Rollins has appointed Robert Sanders dean of the Hamilton Holt School, signaling a new era for the evening program that’s approaching its 60th year.

Sanders was chosen after an extensive search. He holds a doctorate in education from the University of Cincinnati, a master’s degree in library science from the University of Kentucky, and a bachelor of science in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University. For the past five years he has served as associate dean of graduate studies at Appalachian State University, where he was responsible for promoting the mission and vision of the graduate school across 70 degree and graduate certificate programs, serving more than 1,700 students. He was also a professor in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies.

“We are pleased that Robert Sanders is joining Rollins to lead the Hamilton Holt School,” says President Grant Cornwell. “He has a proven track record as a leader and innovator in adult and continuing education, and demonstrates a deep commitment to liberal education. His 28 years of academic and administrative experience with both graduate and undergraduate enrollment management makes him the perfect choice to transform and enhance the offerings at the Holt School.”

In the role of dean, Sanders will work closely the Holt Advisory Board, engage with local community organizations, connect with area employers, community colleges, and high schools, and collaborate with students, staff, and faculty at Rollins to redefine Holt’s unique value proposition in the Central Florida area. He will oversee the entire Holt experience, including the introduction of a community engagement curriculum into the program. Sanders will assume the Rollins post in July.

“The enthusiasm and passion for adult learning and continuing education that came across during Robert’s interview process was inspiring,” says Provost Susan Singer. “We are fortunate to have him leading the Holt School into our 60th year and beyond. His expertise, energy, and desire for community building will strengthen an already exceptional Holt School experience.”
