The Rollins Staff Awards honor non-faculty employees who make significant contributions through service, community engagement, and a commitment to inclusion, representing the very best of the College’s mission to model global citizenship and give back to the local community. This year’s awardees span departments across campus—from admissions to athletics—and hundreds of hours dedicated to community impact.

Throughout the year, staff members contribute in countless meaningful ways, and to recognize their efforts, the College invites nominations for individuals who exemplify excellence, leadership, diversity, and exceptional service, resulting in more than 50 submissions from the Rollins community. We are proud to spotlight the 2026 Rollins Staff Award winners—staff members who go above and beyond to make Rollins a great place to learn, live, and work.


Doc Gallup Service Excellence Award

Karen Crain,
Administrative Coordinator and Academic Advisor for the Business Department

This award recognizes Rollins staff or faculty members who model the Rollins Service Excellence philosophy and values.

Crain embodies the heart of Rollins’ service excellence philosophy, bringing warmth, care, and genuine human connection to every interaction. A trusted presence for students, faculty, and staff alike, she is known for her ability to listen deeply, offer thoughtful guidance, and ensure others feel supported and grounded. Her impact extends well beyond her formal role, as she shows up for campus events, celebrates student milestones, and contributes to community initiatives with a spirit of generosity that strengthens Rollins’ sense of belonging. Through her kindness, reliability, and unwavering commitment to others, Crain helps foster a more connected, supportive, and joyful campus environment.


Helen A. Ward Crossley Distinguished Service Award

Flora van Breemen,
Administrative Assistant for the Anthropology & Sociology Departments

This award recognizes long-standing Rollins staff members who have provided outstanding service and dedication to the College over time.

Breemen brings exceptional dedication, warmth, and care to every corner of the Rollins community. She creates a welcoming home base for students and faculty alike, anticipating needs before they arise and fostering relationships that help others feel supported, grounded, and truly valued. Her impact extends well beyond her formal responsibilities, from beautifying shared spaces and coordinating meaningful traditions to mentoring colleagues and ensuring the seamless, thoughtful flow of departmental life. Through her steady presence, creative initiative, and deep commitment to service, Flora strengthens multiple departments and touches countless lives—making Rollins a brighter, more connected place.


Rollins Wellbeing Champion Award

Nathan Arrowsmith,
Director of Intramural and Club Sports for Rollins Athletics

This award recognizes Rollins staff or faculty members who promote the committee’s mission to create and promote a healthy campus.

Arrowsmith has gone above and beyond in supporting the Rollins community through recreation, fitness, and well-being initiatives, overseeing a wide range of no-cost programs—including intramurals, club sports, group fitness, e-sports, and aquatics—that provide diverse and engaging opportunities for students each semester. He’s played a key role in sustaining access to wellness programming by organizing fitness classes and sports such as soccer, basketball, and volleyball, while also empowering students by training them as officials and mentoring club and team leaders. Actively engaged across campus, Arrowsmith contributes to wellness committees, collaborates with Student Life and CAPS, and volunteers at major events. Through his leadership, collaboration, and deep investment in the community, he has made a lasting impact on campus well-being.


Service Excellence Departmental Recognition Award

Olin Library

This award recognizes a Rollins department for demonstrating evidence of meeting or exceeding our service standards: responsive, respectful, collaborative, competent, and inclusive.

The Olin Library team offers a wide range of thoughtfully designed programs and initiatives that support faculty, staff, and students alike, creating an environment that is both welcoming and deeply inclusive. At the heart of this success is a staff that is consistently engaging, knowledgeable, and approachable, going above and beyond to meet the needs of the community they serve. Signature initiatives such as Olin After Dark, Faculty Day of Scholarship, collaborative study spaces, and access to specialized resources further enrich the campus experience. Through these efforts and more, the Olin team exemplifies the Rollins College service vision at the highest level, setting a standard of excellence across the institution.


Supervisor of the Year Award

Diane Terorde-Doyle,
Hume House Child Development Center & Student Research Center

This award, which is nominated by student employees, recognizes an exceptional mentor who consistently demonstrates a high degree of support to students’ personal, academic, and professional development.

Terorde-Doyle has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to supporting student employees’ personal and professional growth through patient mentorship, clear guidance, and meaningful feedback. From the outset of each student’s experience, she emphasizes the development of communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills within a supportive environment that encourages learning and confidence. She consistently fosters a positive, inclusive team culture where individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to collaborate while recognizing their unique contributions. Through her dedication to training, student development, and cultivating a welcoming workplace, Terorde-Doyle has made a lasting impact on both her team and the Center’s overall success.


Thaddeus Seymour Award for Community Engagement Award

Teasa Mays,
Associate Director of Inclusive Recruitment for Admission

This award recognizes Rollins staff members for sustainable and demonstrated public and community service in local and global communities.

Mays exemplifies a deep and unwavering commitment to community engagement, social change, and responsible leadership. Over the past year, she has played a transformative role in supporting students from historically underrepresented backgrounds through her leadership of the Rollins Diversity Scholars Programs, developed in partnership with the Rosen Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. Going far beyond recruitment, she mentors students and families, leads workshops, and serves as a trusted guide for first-generation students navigating the college process. Her impact extends into the broader community through her leadership of the Annual Community-Based Organizations event, which brings together key partners and local leaders to strengthen collaborative networks. In addition, she serves as co-advisor for the Black Student Union, contributes to the Rollins Diversity Council, and sits on the Rollins Alumni Board of Directors. Through her authentic, equity-driven leadership and steadfast care for others, she has opened doors for countless students and created lasting opportunities across campus and throughout Central Florida.


Thriving Together Presidential Award

Hannah Gonzalez,
Assistant Director of Admission

This award recognizes Rollins community members for their exceptional efforts and achievements to foster a thriving campus community in which everyone has an opportunity to achieve, grow, gain knowledge, and flourish.

Gonzalez oversees Admission Ambassadors and serves as the Theatre Arts Department liaison, consistently encouraging students’ professional growth while celebrating their achievements. A bright and engaging presence on campus, she is deeply committed to sustaining the Rollins legacy and fostering a culture rooted in Thriving Together. Under her leadership, Admission Ambassadors are recognized for their knowledge, warmth, and personalized tours that reflect a strong sense of belonging, access, and care. Beyond this role, Gonzalez contributes to the Admission Community Outreach and Recruitment Team, participates in Voices for Women and the Prism Employee Resource Group, and advises both the Pinehurst Organization and the Disney Club, all while serving as a dedicated advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. By sharing her own Rollins journey, she creates meaningful connections and continues to expand opportunities, belonging, and access for all Tars.
