For her high level of support of students’ personal, academic, and professional development, Melissa Nelson, staff director of the Social Impact Hub, has earned the 2023 Student Employee Supervisor of the Year award.

Since 2018, the Student Employee Supervisor of the Year award recognizes those who assume the important task of supervising, developing, and mentoring our student employees. These supervisors play a crucial role in providing much-needed support to the offices and departments they serve and ultimately contribute greatly to the success of students both at Rollins and beyond.

Nelson’s impact reverberates in the lives of the many students she mentors. They describe her as someone who not only supports their academic and professional goals but also takes a personal interest in their lives. Her inclusive approach to leadership has created a welcoming and supportive environment for all her student employees as they explore their interests and put what they’re learning in the classroom into practice.
