Rollins Trustee Campbell Brown ’90 champions valuable hands-on experience for Rollins students by endowing the Gateway Fellows.
Campbell P. Brown ’90, a Rollins alumnus and member of the Board of Trustees, has generously committed $2 million to endow Rollins’ Gateway Fellows, a highly selective paid summer internship program previously known as the Rollins Professional Fellows. Brown has also pledged an additional $125,000 to support students and programs through The Rollins Annual Fund, which supports the greatest needs of the College and enhances every Rollins student’s experience.
Thus far, two cohorts of Gateway Fellows have had the opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on experience with some of the world’s most prestigious companies, organizations, and programs. This new endowed gift will offer perpetual funding for undergraduate students participating in academic internships through the Center for Career & Life Planning, which is now conveniently located on the first floor of Kathleen W. Rollins Hall. When selected students receive support, they may more fully immerse themselves in the value of these meaningful internship opportunities without the concern of additional financial burden.
“Creating excellent opportunities for our students to apply what they learn in the classroom across real-world business projects in a professional setting provides our young leaders with great perspective of the challenges our communities and businesses face every day,” says Brown. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to be able to facilitate these experiences for our most important assets and brand ambassadors—the students of Rollins College.”
Brown is president and managing director of Old Forester, a family-owned bourbon distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Over the past quarter-century, the political science major has helped develop Brown-Forman’s spirits portfolio at home and abroad. Brown was elected to the Rollins College Board of Trustees in 2020.
