To put their HR knowledge to the test, each year all active student chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) within Florida are invited to participate in the student games competition. SHRM is the world’s largest HR association, with nearly 325,000 members dedicated to creating better workplaces and providing education, certification, and networking to its members.
In conjunction with the annual leadership conference, this year’s event was held in Orlando in October at the Bonnet Creek Resort, where the Rollins team consisted of master’s of human resources students Angelo Carletta, Brandon Dedrel, Keyen Ly, Zach Mendez, Natalie Nieves, and Lexi Watson and was advised by business professor Kip Kiefer and Doragnes Rivera Bradshaw, assistant dean of the Hamilton Holt School, which administers Rollins’ Professional Advancement and Graduate Studies programs.
The team earned a second-place finish for a graduate-level team, marking the highest finish by a Rollins team in three years. The team earned nearly perfect scores in several categories and were praised for presenting recommendations that promoted relevant solutions and action plans in the areas of DEIB and organizational planning.
