What is Community Engagement?
Educating yourself may begin with books and midterm papers and cram sessions. But that is merely the first step in an amazing transformation.
The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) develops real-world engagement experiences that work to fulfill Rollins' mission of creating Global Citizens and Responsible Leaders. We provide opportunities for students to bring their academic curriculum to life through community-focused service projects that benefit our local community members and beyond.

Rollins Community Volunteer Opportunities Database
The newest feature of the Rollins Office of Community Engagement is the Rollins Community Volunteer Opportunities database. The database was created to connect members of the Rollins community with the needs of the Central Florida community. The new Community Volunteer Opportunities database will provide a bridge between students and the community so that students can connect their service interests with the needs in the surrounding community.
Community Organizations can register here.
The Community Volunteer Opportunities database is open to anyone wanting to volunteer, including Rollins faculty, staff, and students as well as all community members. To search for opportunities, follow the link here.

Featured Student
An International Relations major and a Spanish minor from Rochester, New York, Lucas Hernandez (Class of 2013), dedicates much of his time to serving the community. Currently serving as an intern in the Office of Community Engagement (OCE), he will be assisting in many areas including the immersion program, service events, administrative duties, and hosting outside donors.
On SPARC day during his first-year orientation, Lucas first became involved in service when he helped with a beautification project at a local elementary school, Fern Creek. Lucas is also involved with his fraternity X-Club and the co-founder of NextStep, a homeless advocacy organization. In the past, he served as a volunteer in OCE as well as an immersion student coordinator of the Citizens Take Action program.
"Service allows me to better connect with my community and myself," said Lucas. "It has also provided a new dimension to my everyday life and long-term goals. There are constantly new challenges but the rewards are unmatched."
