College Factual has ranked Rollins’ economics program among the top 5 in Florida.
Rollins’ Department of Economics has been recognized among the top five undergraduate economics programs in Florida by College Factual. This leading source of college data analytics and insights is highly focused on outcomes, helping students discover the right college, major, and career through national rankings, matching technology, and in-depth college profiles.
“We designed our economics major specifically for liberal arts students with a focus on critical thinking,” says economics professor Martina Vidovic. “We use cutting-edge theory and practice in the classroom and expose our students to using data to answer economic questions.”
Among other social sciences at Rollins, economics takes an interdisciplinary approach that encourages students to draw connections among disciplines. Traditional economic analysis is offered alongside alternative economic perspectives in the context of some of the 21st century’s most pressing challenges such as wealth inequality and climate change.
The economics department features a distinguished full-time faculty engaged in research ranging from environmental economics to international trade theory and policy. The field attracts a diverse population of students who engage in hands-on learning with personalized attention, developing critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills that are increasingly valued by both graduate schools and employers in a variety of fields, including economics, law, business, and public health.
“I owe a great deal of my career success to the strong foundation I received as an economics major at Rollins,” says Cameron Dawson ’10 ’12MBA, chief market strategist at Fieldpoint Private in Greenwich, Connecticut. “It’s been a great thrill to be able to use all of the knowledge and skills I developed at Rollins in my everyday work.”
