The Office of Campus Safety & Security is the recipient of the 2023 Service Excellence Departmental Award.

The Service Excellence Departmental Award was established in 2011 to recognize a department or team that consistently delivers excellent customer service to members of the Rollins community and has proven its willingness to assist others in the campus community responsively, respectfully, collaboratively, competently, and inclusively.

The members of the Campus Safety team play a critical role in the day-to-day success of the College, serving our students, faculty, and staff with exceptional care and creating a secure and safe environment in which to live and work.

The past few years, the office has been affected by staff shortages in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the threats of multiple hurricanes, which have required team members to assume additional work and meet new demands. Whether it’s testing air quality, engaging in threat assessment, or handling a mental-health-related emergency, the work of the Campus Safety office touches every corner of campus.

As one colleague notes, “This team has been a model of the Rollins service standards for many years. Their work is mostly unseen but integral to the success of the College.”
