Health Promotions

Health Promotions is a department within the Rollins College Wellness Center that educates the Rollins community about building healthy policies, creating supportive environments for health, and strengthening campus community action for holistic health and well-being through the Nine Dimensions of Wellness.

Wellness Ambassador Program

Who are the Wellness Ambassadors?

The Wellness Ambassadors are student leaders who educate and empower the Rollins community to grow in the Nine Dimensions of Wellness. They plan and implement wellness events/initiatives and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in programming that enhances student well-being. The Wellness Ambassadors are student leaders who empower the Rollins community to grow in the Nine Dimensions of Wellness. They plan and implement wellness initiatives and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in programming that enhances student well-being. With the support of the Health Promotions team, Wellness Ambassadors develop skills in planning and implementing events and campaigns, increase their social networks, and improve their public speaking skills.

Program Highlights

  1. Creative freedom and practical support to realize your vision for a healthier Rollins
  2. Exclusive enrollment in the Foundations of Peer Health Education course sequence
  3. Multiple team-building retreats, including an intensive three-day orientation
  4. In-depth experiential learning of wellness outreach methods, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  5. Promote the Nine Dimensions of Wellness campus-wide

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate Student at Rollins. 
  2. Able to attend Foundations of Peer Health Education Course offered on Tuesdays during common hours in the Fall and Spring semesters.  
  3. Able to commit to two consecutive Fall and Spring semesters of service for one academic year.  
  4. Able to conduct 1O hours of direct outreach on campus each semester. 
  5. Available to attend a three-day orientation in August before the first week of classes.  

Becoming a Wellness Ambassador

Applications for Wellness Ambassadors open in March; prospective Wellness Ambassadors apply each March for the following Fall and Spring semesters. The application process involves an online application, résumé submission, and interview with Wellness Center staff. Students selected to be Wellness Ambassadors serve in the program for the academic year.
