Robert Stephens
Founder, Story Impact Media
“True story.” Start a movie, book, or conversation with those two words, and you’ll have the full attention of Robert Stephens. It’s been this way since his formative years ensconced among hayfields and snowdrifts in the upper Midwest. There, he kept himself occupied by reading stacks of magazines and biographies and listening to life stories from his parents and grandmother. Those experiences became the impetus behind his pursuit of a career in media, which has spanned book collaborating, TV news, sports writing, magazine editing, textbook editing, video production, and long-form and digital storytelling. He now writes exclusively for organizations—like Rollins—that recognize how true stories define their unique brand identities.
Stephens earned a degree in broadcast communications and journalism but considers his education ongoing because of the interviews, or “conversations” as he calls them, he engages in on a daily basis. Of all the stories he’s had the privilege of sharing, the most significant by far are the three that he and his wife continue to collaborate on: raising three daughters here in Winter Park. They are daily reminders that within each person is a one-off handiwork with a story worth sharing.
