K-12 Educators and Students
Facilitated School Visits
The Rollins Museum of Art offers guided tours and programs to primary and secondary students from public and private schools in Central Florida and beyond. Students are inspired by our collection and exhibitions, and a Museum visit supports teachers by encouraging visual literacy, critical thinking skills, and art appreciation.
For now, The Rollins Museum of Art will not be facilitating onsite experiences but they will resume in the 22-23 academic year. School visits are by appointment Tuesday through Friday between 10:30am and 2:30pm. Visits must be scheduled a minimum of four weeks in advance.
For more information regarding upcoming K12 scholastic programming, contact our K12 Education Department.
Self-guided School Tours
The galleries are always available for self-guided tours by classes or groups during all open hours of operation. We ask that you make appointments for these visits to ensure that everyone has the most enjoyable and engaging experience possible.
To schedule a self-guided school visit, contact Allana Nagy, K12 Interpretive Fellow.
NEW! K12 Programs and Teacher Workshops
In Fall of 2022, RMA will be launching a new suite of school programs to connect students with the museum’s vast collection. Check back this summer for detailed descriptions and new registration policies for K12 class visits.
RMA will be hosting teacher workshops in late spring and summer for two new programs, [Art] In Context and Art Lab for Social Justice.
Art Lab for Social Justice: Help students understand social justice issues within the self and community with this program that encourages social empathy through arts-based learning. Art Lab is a distance program developed to be facilitated in the classroom. Each lab addresses social justice thematically, allowing students to engage critical content and delve into the practices of three different artists from our collection that work with that same theme across different mediums and conceptualizations. Students will be engaged in journal-based exploratory projects and corresponding art assignments that respond to each of the artists studied, ending in a group capstone project. Grades 8-12.
Art Lab: LGBTQ+
Art Lab: Black Lives Matter
[Art] in Context: [ART] in Context is an interdisciplinary program series focusing on how art can be used as a catalyst to think about a wide range of subjects, be they historical, literary, scientific or mathematical. Students are introduced to work from the RMA collection and step outside art historical study to unpack the larger themes, terminology, and processes that inspired the artist through a variety of interactive modules that engage different learning modalities. Grades 5-12.
[Art] in Context: Global Warming
Educators interested in participating in our workshops should contact Allana Nagy, K12 Interpretive Fellow, for more information.
