Pre-Health Professions Advising
Volunteering / Shadowing
Most health professions schools require applicants to have completed hours of shadowing and volunteering. Research is also encouraged by many schools. See below for potential local opportunities or visit the Health Professions Advisor for information on how to get started.

Contact the Health Professions Advisor for opportunities - Rollins Observership Experience
Rollins partners with AdventHealth to allow students from Rollins to participate in a medical observership. Students are assigned a particular area such as surgery, emergency medicine, and family practice. Students spend 8 hours/day for one week during either our January Intercession or over Spring Break. The long day of interaction allows students to observe the life of a physician and to talk with physicians, nurses, residents, and medical students. Contact the Health Professions Advisor to learn about the application process.

Mentoring and Support Opportunities
The IRIS (Increasing Retention and Inclusion in STEM/Pre-Health) group is a collaborative mentoring program facilitated by Rollins faculty, staff, and students that seeks to improve student outcomes in the sciences/pre-health professions at Rollins. We work together to build community, develop new professional skills, and address barriers.
Please email a completed application to Dr. M. Fuse (mfuse@rollins.edu) if you are interested in participating.
