In June 2014, Political Science professor Dan Chong and his students went on safari in Serengeti National Park in Tanzania during a field study in Africa. It's just one of the many opportunities political science majors have to apply their skills in the field.

Political science professor Tom Lairson, who has taught or lectured at several asian universities, frequently leads student field studies to Asia.

Washington Semester Internship Program

The Washington Semester Internship Program lets students intern in Washington while taking seminars with guest speakers from the realms of foreign and domestic politics, law and jurisprudence, international business and trade, journalism, economic policy, peace and conflict resolution, and more. Students live on campus at American University located in the Georgetown area. Students must receive the endorsement and recommendation from Dr. Gunter in the Political Science Department.
