November Newsletter
From Peg Cornwell, Associate to the President for College and Community Relations
The fall semester is quickly coming to an end. Thanksgiving break begins on November 27, with classes ending on December 10 and exams ending on Saturday, December 14. As end-of-the-semester assignments become due and exams begin, please remind your students to take advantage of the Tutoring & Writing Center for extra help.
The end of the semester also means students will take part in performances, athletic competitions, and year-end club and organization functions. President Cornwell and I try to attend as many of these programs as we can to appreciate our students' talents and cheer them on to victory.
If your student is interested in joining a fraternity or sorority, recruitment for these organizations begins in January, upon return to campus for the spring semester.
It was delightful to see so many parents and families on campus for Family Weekend. To see a gallery of photos from the weekend, click here.
For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, we wish you a peaceful and happy holiday.

Academic Affairs & Student Account Services
Course Registration and Waitlist Information
Students completed spring course registration earlier this month. Prior to registering, they met one-on-one with their faculty advisor for collaborative conversations that support students achieving their goals. Students can still adjust their schedules during the first two weeks of add/drop in January 2025.
Waitlist Information
If your student was waitlisted for a spring class, the College will send notifications to their Rollins email if a space becomes available. Students have 24 hours to add the class after receiving the waitlist notification. The College does not send waitlist notifications during winter break to avoid conflicts with travel plans.
Student Account Services
Student Account Services sent spring billing statements on Wednesday, November 20. To receive this electronic statement, your student must have added you as an authorized user to their billing account.
Student Life
Center for Career & Life Planning
Spring 2025 academic credit internship registration opened November 1 and closes January 20, 2025. Internships are incredibly beneficial and can be pursued with or without academic credit. We encourage students to explore employer information, upcoming events, and opportunity information on Handshake. The Career & Life Planning team looks forward to connecting with your students and guiding them through each phase of their career journey!
For International Families
International students planning to travel outside the U.S. during winter break should ensure their immigration documents are up to date.
Scholarships & U.S. Taxes
International students who receive a scholarship that covers more than tuition may be subject to U.S. income tax. If so, they will be charged on their student account and will appear as “NRA Tax.” Students charged an NRA tax who do not have a U.S. Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) must file for an ITIN as soon as possible through the Office of International Student & Scholar Services. Upon receipt of the ITIN, students will need to prepare an income tax return in the spring during tax filing season. If your student has questions, they can contact the OISSS team.

Supporting Your Students from the Sidelines – Student Outreach & Resource Center
As we head into the final stretch of the semester, many students may feel overwhelmed and alone. It’s normal for stress to rise at this time, and students often need reminders that they’re on the right track! Encourage them to take breaks, breathe, and give themselves grace can help them find balance. Normalizing their feelings, supporting their time management and helping them prioritize self-care as they prepare for finals can make a meaningful difference. Your encouragement from afar can be just what they need to navigate this busy season with confidence and reach the finish line!
