Summer Music Vocal Academy

The Ultimate A Cappella Experience with Voctave is designed to advance your vocal a cappella ensemble skills, as well as your individual vocal abilities.  Singers will engage in a variety of vocal ensembles to experience performing in different styles.  The ensembles and innovative workshops will be led by some of the hottest names in the a cappella industry!

Academy Overview

The Rollins College Summer Music Vocal Academy

This program is designed to enhance your vocal a cappella ensemble skills.  Participants will engage with Rollins College faculty in a variety of a cappella ensembles, which offer the small group instruction that Rollins College is known for.  Members of Voctave will also be present throughout the week to sing and work with students.

Through lively classes, singers will have the opportunity to explore additional musical proficiencies that are crucial for a cappella success.  Singers will gain critical skills and new artistic techniques that will enhance performance practices.

A solo recital opportunity and private voice lessons are available to a limited number of attendees.  Voice lessons are a requirement in order to participate in the solo recital.  (Additional Fee)

Participation is open to 9th grade through 12th-grade students from the Spring of 2019 academic year.

Vocal Ensembles

All participants will perform in a modern vocal jazz/contemporary ensemble, an early music chamber ensemble, and in an ensemble singing standard vocal ensemble literature.

Placements for the vocal ensembles are done by the instructors during registration and check-in on Sunday, July 14th.  

Solo Recital Audition Process

Auditions for the Solo Recital will take place on the check-in day (July 14th).  Students interested in participating in the solo recital must register for voice lessons and bring a prepared piece to registration.  Additional fee required: $60.00. 

Please note that students who are unable to arrive at camp during the designated check-in times will not be eligible to audition.  The solo recital will take place on Friday during the designated concert time in the morning.
