Usame Tunagur, an award-winning filmmaker and an independent scholar, will be addressing the overarching images of Islam and the process of 'racialization' of Muslims. Examining the Orientalist imagination, this presentation will analyze how Hollywood films project Muslims as a homogenized group, born with essential qualities and a natural tendency towards terrorism.
