FAQ for Newly Admitted Student

  • Is OISSS still issuing immigration documents (I-20 or DS-2019) for newly admitted students?
    • OISSS is not closed; we are just working remotely so we are continuing to issue these forms. Please review your checklist for all requirements in Foxlink. Please note that when you submit forms through Foxlink, the checklist must be updated manually and this may take 24-48 hours to be done. Once all required documents have been received, we will issue your immigration document, Form I-20 for F-1 student visa or DS-2019 for J-1 student visa.
  • How is OISSS mailing immigration documents?
    • OISSS will be mailing your I-20 or DS-2019 by courier service (Air Concepts). We will use the permanent home address on your financial certification form. If this is not the correct place to mail your document, please contact us with your correct mailing address.
  • How long will it take to get my immigration documents?
    • While we are working remotely right now, we still strive to issue your documents within 2-3 business days of receiving all of your required documents. When we have prepared your I-20 or DS-2019, you will receive an email with the tracking number and additional information about paying the I-901 fee, if required for you. More information about applying for a visa can be found on our website.
  • Will I still be able to get a visa?
    • As of May 2020, most U.S. embassies and consulates around the world have suspended the routine processing of visas. Please check the S. Department of State’s visa page for announcements and updates regarding the resumption of consular services and visa processing times at your nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
  • Who do I contact at OISSS if I have questions?
