Rollins’ SHRM Student Chapter Receives Outstanding Merit Award

The award recognizes chapters that adhere to the highest standards of the Society for Human Resource Management, the preeminent HR professional organization.
Rollins has received high honors from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in the form of a 2021-22 Outstanding Student Chapter Merit Award. The award recognizes affiliated chapters that exceed the national standards set by one of the top HR professional organizations in the world.
SHRM’s goal is to elevate the HR profession and empower people and workplaces through advancing HR practices, and student chapters must adhere to a rigorous set of standards set forth by the organization. The Outstanding Student Chapter Merit Award distinguishes Rollins from other chapters based on a number of criteria, including commitment to service, innovation, and high-level programming.
The award reflects the high standards of professional quality found in Rollins’ Master of Human Resources (MHR) program, one of only 200 programs in the nation that adheres to curriculum approved by SHRM. The College’s MHR program is designed for new and seasoned HR professionals alike, helping them develop the confidence, expertise, and skills needed to address and advise on complex interpersonal issues—no matter the organization or sector.
“Together, students, faculty, and staff have worked tirelessly to develop superior quality programming through the Rollins SHRM student chapter, ” says Doragnes Bradshaw ’18 ’20MBA, SHRM chapter advisor and director of operations of Rollins’ Professional Advancement and Graduate Studies programs. “We are paving the way for extraordinary students to become HR professionals and responsible leaders within our community and beyond.”
The award holds particular meaning as students returned to the classroom this fall.
“After being in a virtual environment for almost two years, we are extremely proud of the work we did this year, which allowed us to provide many opportunities for students to connect with professional development in meaningful ways,” says SHRM student chapter president Jessica Wensel ’23MHR.
In addition to professional alignment within the classroom, the College’s chapter programming includes an ongoing speaker series, community service opportunities, and a mentorship program that pairs students with local HR professionals. The Rollins student chapter also partners with the Greater Orlando SHRM chapter, ensuring that MHR students experience a smooth transition from student chapter to professional network after graduation.
