Study the Arabic Language
Why study Arabic? Spoken by over 300 million native speakers, Arabic is the 5th most widely spoken native language in the world. Furthermore, the U.S. State Department has named Arabic a "critical language," which opens up opportunities for scholarships and competitive grants for students of Arabic.
The Department of Global Languages and Cultures offers both elementary and intermediate-level courses in Arabic language study (ARA 101, ARA 102, ARA 201, ARA 202).
Study abroad opportunities for students of Arabic include programs in Jordan, Morocco, and Tel Aviv, Israel. Arabic classes also count as electives for the minor in Middle Eastern and North African Studies.
