Responsibilities

The Center for Global Initiatives and the Global Initiatives Committee are charged with the following responsibilities:

  • Support efforts towards improved integration of international experiences into the curriculum and co-curriculum
  • Through the Global Initiatives Committee Grant program, allocate internal funding for internationalization efforts, outside of specific department/office budgets, in accordance with strategic goals and needs
  • Align visiting scholars, speakers, events and programs with curricular and co-curricular goals and needs for internationalization.
  • Support efforts to assess and benchmark internationalization activities and programs and global learning
  • Manage the Rollins International Grant (RIG) program including Faculty-Staff Group Travel Seminars and individual faculty-staff grants.
  • For the College of Liberal Arts and the Holt School, consult on the development and continuation of new semester study away programs, and review and select field study/summer programs each year.
  • Consult on academic policies involving or affecting study abroad/away or other internationalization programming, and on policies or processes that impact or involve faculty.

Committee Structure

  • Faculty Coordinator: Co-Chairs the Committee and Co-Leads the Center, 3 year term, open call to CLA and Crummer faculty for application and final appointment made by the Provost
  • Director of Global Initiatives: Co-Chairs the Committee and Co-Leads the Center
  • International Student and Scholar Services Representative: Standing appointment
  • International Admissions Representative: Standing Appointment
  • Six Divisional Elected College of Liberal Arts Faculty Representatives: 2 year terms
  • Crummer Representative: Selected by the Crummer faculty, 2 year term
  • At-Large Elected Staff Representative: Elected by staff through email ballot process, 2 year term
  • Student Representative: 1 year term, renewable, open to CLA, Holt, and Crummer students
