Summer Financial Aid

Requirements
To be considered for summer financial aid, please complete the following:
- Enrollment in summer courses is required for financial aid. Financial aid offers will be completed once you register for the summer term.
- Complete the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you have not already done so.
- Monitor your Foxlink and email for updates regarding financial aid. Please allow two weeks for processing.
Your summer financial aid options are based on your credit hour enrollment and may be limited by the financial aid received in the current academic year. Withdrawing or changing course enrollment may impact your summer financial aid. If you are considering withdrawing, please contact our office in order to evaluate the impact prior to actual withdrawal.
Undergraduate Enrollment
Federal Pell Grant
You must be Pell eligible to receive a Pell Grant in the summer.
Bright Futures
You must enroll in at least 6 credit hours in order to qualify for Bright Futures. You must receive Bright Futures during the academic year. Summer credits will count against the lifetime total of 140 hours.
Federal Direct Loan
You must enroll in at least 6 credit hours in order to qualify for a Direct loan. Loan maximums are based on grade level and dependency status as determined by the FAFSA. Loans may also increase if you progress a grade level during the academic year.
Federal Parent PLUS Loan
You must enroll in at least 6 credit hours in order to qualify for a PLUS loan. Parents may apply for credit-based PLUS loan. Eligibility based on cost of attendance minus other aid.
Graduate Enrollment
No aid is available for students registered for less than 3 credit hours. The following programs are for students with 3 or more summer credit hours.
Federal Direct Loan
Loan maximum is $20,500. The amount borrowed from the previous fall or spring semesters are deducted from $20,500. Any remaining balance is the eligibility for summer semester.
Federal Graduate PLUS Loan
Graduate students may also apply for a credit-based Grad PLUS loan. Eligibility is based on cost of attendance minus other aid, including Direct Loan.

If you are not eligible to receive financial aid for the summer, please contact Student Account Services for details on ways to pay your bill for summer. You may consider a payment plan or a private loan.
