Endeavor Foundation Center for Faculty Development

SoTL Conference Travel Grants

The Endeavor Center will provide grants of up to $1,000 to full-time faculty (i.e., tenured and tenure-track faculty, lecturers, Visiting Assistant Professors) to attend a major SoTL conference in order to

  • learn about SoTL, and share their own SoTL projects (if applicable),
  • develop or deepen their pedagogical skills, and
  • join the international conversations about postsecondary teaching, learning, and SoTL.

Recipients will share what they learn at the conference with the Rollins teaching and learning community (e.g., a ROLLINSpire blog post, a panel or workshop, a SoTL book group).

Funding will cover travel, accommodations, meals, and conference fees. Presentation is not a requirement for the SoTL Conference Travel Grants, as the primary goal is to learn and meet new colleagues.

A few SoTL Travel Grants will be available to attend the annual conference of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL).  This year's is "SoTL Without Borders: Engaged Practices for Social Change," and the conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from October 9 through 12.  (The conference rotates out of country every other year and ideally on another continent, so this year is unusually close to Rollins.)  To learn about the specific conference culture of ISSOTL, read their statement on their conference pedagogy.  If you're interested in presenting on a SoTL project, the Call for Proposals for ISSOTL19 is available here, with proposals due April 1.

(Depending on funding and the success of these grants, the January 2020 SoTL Commons Conference in Savannah, Georgia, will also be eligible for SoTL Travel Grants.)
