Canvas Orientation, Training, & Open Lab

Canvas Overview/Open Lab

  • In the first part of this workshop, the Instructional Design & Technology team will provide a brief overview of Canvas to help you get started using our new LMS. Following the overview, you will have hands-on time to explore Canvas, import content from Blackboard, and ask questions.

Canvas: Assignments, Assessments, and Gradebooks, Oh My!

  • In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of the Canvas gradebook: creating assignments and assignment groups, customizing your gradebook settings, and using Student View. Along the way, the Instructional Design & Technology team will also highlight some of the new features.

Building Your Course in Canvas

  • We're moving to Canvas; should you import, reorganize, or rebuild? The Instructional Design & Technology team will share the options and you'll learn the best practices for building Canvas courses in a way that best matches your style and maximizes your teaching and your students' learning.
