Endeavor Foundation Center for Faculty Development

Course (Re)Design Institute

The Endeavor Center for Faculty Development and Instructional Design & Technology offer a week-long workshop for faculty interested in designing a new course or redesigning an existing course.  The Course (Re)Design Institute (CRI) will give participants the time and guidance to be intentional about their students’ learning—from what they want students to know 5 years after the course is over to its specific habits, routines, and activities.

The 2019 CRI is complete.  Information about the 2020 CRI will be posted here in late fall 2019.

We have flipped the CRI: most of the time together will be activities like guided workshops, discussion, a field trip, and individual work and consultation time, and participants will get some ‘content’ in short readings in between the sessions, as well as plenty of resources on a Canvas site.  See the schedule below.

Individual faculty are encouraged to apply, as are cohorts or representatives of cohorts, such as faculty teaching courses focused on similar pedagogies (e.g., inclusive pedagogies, a discipline’s signature pedagogy), competencies (e.g., writing, mathematical thinking), outcomes (e.g., integrative thinking, information literacy, disciplinary ways of thinking), or themes (e.g., social entrepreneurship, social justice).

Participating CLA faculty will received a $500 stipend upon completion of the following:

  • Participation in the whole Institute
  • Submission of a syllabus and material for a single unit (i.e., activities, assessments, & explanation of how they integrate principles from the CRI).
