COVID-19 policies extended, January 2022

Dear Campus Community:

Since our last communication, the Orange County COVID positivity rate has declined to around 26 percent, while our campus positivity rate has increased and is now nearing 15 percent.

While we were hopeful that we’d start seeing a steady decline this month, we have instead noticed a recent increase in student cases that we can directly identify are, in large part, due to a number of unmasked group activities and off-campus events of more than 30 people. We saw a similar pattern last year at this time, and had a similar spike that followed. Our Wellness team is doing an admirable job of managing cases on campus, but we need to do what we can to reverse this trend.

Because of this, current campus COVID protocols that we previously mentioned will remain in place through today will now be extended for the next two weeks. In addition, we ask that groups of 30 or more continue to wear masks outdoors.

If you aren’t already familiar with it, please take time to reference the College’s dashboard. Our Metrics team works diligently to provide the most thorough and up-to-date COVID-related information to keep everyone informed. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.
