COVID-19 changes effective February 18

Dear Campus Community:

We are pleased to report that after several months of high positivity rates for COVID testing, our current campus positivity rate is below 5 percent. We are so grateful for everyone’s ongoing commitment to mask wearing and keeping our campus safe, particularly over these past few weeks. This reduced campus risk coincides with a reduced 14-day rolling average of COVID-19 infections in Orange County, which is now around 13 percent.

Effective today, we are amending the following COVID-19 protocols.

Provost Susan Singer

  • Masks are recommended in residential spaces.
  • Masks are required in residential offices – Residential Life and Explorations and Center for Inclusion and Campus Involvement
  • Masks are recommended in McKean Gym, Warden Arena, Daryl’s Fitness Center, and Lakeside’s Anchor Club.
  • Masks continue to be required in academic and administrative buildings when there are more than 10 individuals in a room. Masks are required in common areas.
  • Masks are required in the Wellness Center and at COVID testing sites.
  • Rooms may be filled to 50 percent capacity with 3-foot physical distancing and masking.
  • There are no limitations on outdoor group size; however, when physical distancing is difficult, masks are recommended.

We will reconsider masking in classrooms when the campus positivity rate reaches 3 percent.

Other Adjustments:

Routine surveillance testing of residential students (not athletes) will be paused.

We will continue to have R-card access to buildings on campus.

Indoor catering is now available to groups of up to 50 individuals while maintaining 50 percent capacity and 3-foot physical distancing.

With the reduction of COVID protocols at the College, we are relocating how you access the College’s COVID website to the hamburger menu (main site menu) only. The blue banner that appears across the site will be removed today. For easy access, we recommend you bookmark this page to your web browser.
