EASE Applications Wins $25,000 in Rollins Venture Plan Competition

April 4, 2014 - The Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship at Rollins College announced today that EASE (Electronic Access to Surgical Events) Applications, a HIPAA compliant messaging app that updates the progress of patients undergoing medical procedures via texts, photos and videos, has been named the winner of this year’s Rollins Venture Plan Challenge. The company has been awarded a $25,000 cash prize.

The ninth annual Venture Plan Competition hosted by the student-run Rollins Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) gives students, alumni, faculty and staff an opportunity to develop a plan and launch a new product or business idea. Participants compete for a cash prize pool of $40,000. Winners are chosen by a panel of distinguished judges who are successful investors and entrepreneurs.

“The Rollins Venture Plan Competition encourages students to channel their inner entrepreneurial instincts, develop a business plan for marketplace introduction and connect with advanced entrepreneurs for direct insight and feedback,” said Dr. Craig McAllaster, Dean of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business. “With so many innovative submissions, it’s not easy for judges to choose a winner. EASE Applications’ HIPAA messaging app is a product that will benefit the medical community and we are happy to present them with the first prize.”

In addition to EASE Applications, this year’s Rollins MBA Venture Challenge place winners included:

  • IROC Tactical – a weapons accessory company, taking second place and a $10,000 cash prize
  • Kidstal – an easy-to-use resource for helping parents learn about their children's strengths, taking third place and a $3,000 cash prize
  • RMD Technologies – provider of the only patented and NSF/ANSI certified wireless system for food, time and temperature monitoring, taking fourth place and a $2,000 cash prize
