Certo Receives Cornell Distinguished Faculty Award

May 16, 2013 - The Cornell Distinguished Faculty Award was established by the Board of Trustees of Rollins College in honor of beloved alumnus and longtime trustee George D. Cornell ’35 ’85H. The award recognizes a Crummer faculty member for outstanding teaching, research, and service.

This year’s recipient is Steinmetz Professor of Management Sam Certo, a highly respected member of the faculty, mentor to students, and a great colleague.

“The Crummer School is a special family of students, faculty, and staff,” says Certo. “Any recognition that one member receives is recognition for the entire family. I'm very grateful to be a member of the family.”

Certo has previously received several awards including the Award for Innovative Teaching from the Southern Business Association, the Instructional Innovation Award granted by the Decision Sciences Institute, the Charles A. Welsh Memorial Award for outstanding teaching at Rollins College, and the Bornstein Award for Faculty Scholarship. He is the author of successful textbooks including Modern Management: Concepts and Skills (13th edition), Strategic Management: Concepts and Applications, and Supervision: Concepts and Applications (8th edition). His publications also include articles in such journals as Academy of Management Review, The Journal of Change Management, Business Horizons, The Journal of Experiential Learning and Simulation, and Training.
