Rollins Updates Professional MBA Program with New Course Requirements

Research Study Finds Employers Want Candidates with Business Communications and Critical Thinking Skills

September 18, 2012 —The Rollins MBA today announced new courses and updated core requirements for its Professional MBA program. The revised curriculum builds on the current program, which is ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek as number one in Florida, 44th in the nation. Rollins commissioned a survey of local employers before refining its curriculum to ensure that students have the most in-demand job skills before and after graduation.

“Expectations are set high and as research shows, proven communications and critical thinking skills are imperative to employers,” said Craig McAllaster, dean of the Rollins MBA. “We understand the needs of our professional students and want to ensure our curriculum reflects what employers find most important when making a new hire or promoting from within.”

Two new courses, Business Communications and Critical Thinking, were created in response to research with local employers and will become part of the Professional MBA curriculum. Changes to the curriculum will begin with the new spring start-date of March 2013. Also, beginning in 2013 Professional MBA students will be required to take two applied courses: the Global Research and Study Project and either Applied Entrepreneurship or Applied Leadership Development.

Tuition for the Professional MBA program class beginning in March 2013 will be $49,680 and is guaranteed not to increase for students who remain in their entrance class. Tuition includes access to resources in entrepreneurship, leadership and career development; as well as access to Rollins College campus amenities, including the Olin Library, Alfond Sports Center and others. View more information about the Professional MBA.
