Rollins Net Impact Members Place in National & Regional Competitions

March 14, 2011 — Rollins Net Impact members were selected from thousands of applicants to participate in two major business competitions this month.

On Friday, March 4, five Rollins MBA students competed in the regional Walmart Better Business Plan Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. The purpose of the Walmart Better Business Plan Competition is to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and sustainability awareness within the private sector. The team presented its plan for a ground-breaking, environmentally sustainable business and won second place! The first place winner of the regional competition will compete for a $20,000 startup fund in the finals at Walmart’s headquarters in April.

On Saturday, March 5, five additional Rollins MBA students competed in Boston in the Hult Global Case Challenge. Sponsored by Hult International Business School, the Clinton Global Initiative and, teams from across North America presented innovative business solutions to the global water crisis, with the challenge of providing clean water to 100 million people in the next five years. The winners from the regional competition will progress to the world finals in April, and the winning team will receive $1 million to put its plans into action.

Rollins Net Impact is the local chapter of an international network of business students and professionals focused on promoting corporate responsibility, social entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.
