Rollins MBA Professor Ilan Alon Releases Two New Books on International Business

May 25, 2010—The Rollins MBA announces that Professor Ilan Alon, the George D. and Harriet W. Cornell Chair of International Business, and director at The China Center at Rollins College, has released two new global business books: “Franchising Globally,” Palgrave MacMillan; and A Guide to the Top 100 Companies in China, World Scientific/Imperial College Press.

“Franchising Globally” examines franchising from both an entrepreneurial and an international perspective. It provides the reader with micro and macro studies of franchising environments in different parts of the world including: Europe, the Balkans, China, the United States and Africa. Part I of the book reviews applicable theories of internationalization, international market selection, emerging markets and franchising entrepreneurship. Part II provides area studies of four distinct regions, including micro-franchising applications in less developed countries. Part III provides case studies exemplifying internationalization, the use of franchising in a not-for-profit setting, the decision to use franchising by a small entrepreneur, and the experience of a failed master franchisee in China.

A Guide to the Top 100 Companies in China is a reference tool on China’s top companies. The book provides up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of the top Chinese enterprises. Corporations from Hong Kong and Taiwan that conduct significant business in China are also included.
