Mies van der Rohe, the German architect, observed that “God is in the details.” I think of his words whenever I stroll across the Rollins campus, for he invariably leads my eye to some delightful new discovery in a balcony or doorway or wrought iron gate. The Spanish-Mediterranean style invites attention to details, and I urge visitors to seek and savor them.
I am delighted to welcome visitors and to present this companion for your walking tour. The beauty of the campus and its buildings is exceeded only by the special spirit of our College community. We are a human enterprise engaged in the development of intellect and character; it is the people here who are Rollins College. This is a lively place which is proud of its past, confident about its present, and optimistic about its future. We join in extending a warm welcome.
