Rollins Talent Search inspires Central Florida Students to exceed expectations through academic advisement, mentoring, and leadership. Our goal is to provide low-income, first generation students access to college.

About Educational Talent Search . . .

The Rollins College Talent Search Program is an educational guidance program designed to assist middle school, high school, and out-of-school individuals who need academic advisement in order to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities.

• The program is available to individuals residing in Orange and Osceola counties who have a need for the services offered by Talent Search and attend on of our target schools.

• Applicants whose parents have not attained a bachelor's degree and whose family's taxable income meets U.S. Department of Education requirements may be eligible for program services. The sponsoring of this outreach program is part of Rollins' commitment to the local community. 

Talent Search is authorized by the Higher Education Act and is funded by the U. S. Department of Education. For the 2011 - 2012 year, the Rollins College Talent Search program funding level is $313,212.

 -Rollins College Talent Search students are far beyond average.  Our students excel in multiple aspects of educational development- 

Talent Search Has Had a Very Successful Year!

In October of 2011, we were thrilled to learn that the U. S. Department of Education awarded Rollins College another five-year grant to provide services to nearly 750 students in Orange and Osceola County through Educational Talent Search.  Our primary student population includes first-generation, low income students, for which we provide information on the college-going process. As stated in our grant application, 80% of our students are expected to be accepted and enroll in a college or university.  We are honored to serve your outstanding students and thank you for the opportunity. 

Some of the highlights of our year include providing a curriculum on study skills, career choices,   financial aid, SAT and ACT preparation, the college application process.  We deliver our curriculum as we visit our schools on a monthly basis and meet with our students in small groups. 

Along with the curriculum, we also provide experiences for the students off campus.  In February we took 85 students to the NACAC National College Fair in Tampa.  Students were able to visit with college representatives and obtain information from approximately 150 colleges from around the country.  In March we traveled to USF/St. Petersburg and Florida Southern College.  Students were exposed to a state university as well as a small, private college.  April featured our transition barbeque, where we honored our graduating seniors and welcomed our middle school students to high school, offering them “tips for success” from our experts, the seniors.
