Orientation Programs

Our orientation programs are your keys to getting familiar with campus; meeting your classmates and student leaders; and connecting with the academic, social, and co-curricular life at Rollins. We currently offer three distinct orientation programs.

The Student Success team wants to help all incoming students make connections to other students, faculty and staff, and the larger community.

Summer Orientation

Summer Orientation (Summer O) is an optional two-day experience for first-year students that typically takes place in late June. The dates for Summer Orientation 2014 are June 25-26 (Session 1) and June 28-29 (Session 2).

We've developed a first-year program specifically designed to make sure that you are prepared, confident, and ready to begin your first year at Rollins.

During Summer O you will have the opportunity to:

  •         meet 80 other incoming students
  •         spend a night in the residence halls
  •         get to know your way around campus
  •         start exploring Rollins' Liberal Arts Curriculum
  •         become familiar with campus life
  •         meet some of the best and brightest student leaders on campus

We also have a great parents program that runs simultaneously.

Because of limited space, Summer O has room for only 80 students per session. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be no cost for the experience other than those you incur for travel. Students attending will be required to stay in the residence halls in a double room with another first-year student. Parents will need to make their own housing accommodations. The Alfond Inn is a beautiful and convenient venue located right across the road from campus.

If you aren’t able to attend Summer O, don't worry -- we have a great Fall Orientation program that is required of all incoming students that will fully prepare you for your first semester.

Fall Orientation

The Student Success team wants you to start the year comfortable on campus and ready to begin your new adventure.  Although it is difficult to imagine what to expect the first few weeks of college, Fall O will prepare you for the rest of your time at Rollins.

You will explore campus, meet new students, and familiarize yourself with the wide variety of academic resources and student activities on campus. There will be lots of programs designed to introduce you to campus and help you get to know your RCC professor, Peer Mentors and fellow students.

It may seem overwhelming at first, but in no time you will be able to find your way around with first-hand knowledge of the possibilities available to you. Take advantage of all Rollins has to offer; this is how your education will take shape. We encourage you to get off to a good start by fully participating in the Orientation program.

If you are arriving to Winter Park before Orientation you will unfortunately not be able to view your Residence Hall room as all halls this summer are undergoing maintenance or construction/renovation and will be inaccessible "hard-hat only zones".

Incoming first-year students and transfers will report to campus on August 20, 2014 for mandatory Fall Orientation.

Fall classes will begin on Monday, August 25, 2014.

Spring Orientation

The January equivalent to Fall O, Spring Orientation is required for all students entering the College in January. The Student Success team wants you to start the year comfortable on campus and ready to begin your new adventure.  Although it is difficult to imagine what to expect the first few weeks of college, Spring O will prepare you for the rest of your time at Rollins.
