All first-year students enroll in a Rollins College Conference (RCC) during the fall semester. Students in the same RCC will also live together in the residence halls in a Living-Learning Community (LLC). The RCC is a seminar class in which approximately 16 first-year students meet with a faculty member to explore a topic in the professor’s area of expertise. Professors are drawn from the full range of academic disciplines—encompassing the arts, the sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences—and include many of Rollins’ most distinguished faculty members. Throughout the first semester, the Conference professor also joins students in educational activities and experiences that supplement and enhance the course. Upper-class peer mentors assist in the RCC and help first-year students make the transition to college life and work. Typically, this course meets at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with additional meeting times over the course of the semester. The faculty member teaching this seminar course also serves as the student’s faculty advisor.
