To access services, students must refer themselves to the Director of Disability Services and submit documentation to verify eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Protection under these civil rights statutes is determined on a case-by-case basis and is based upon documentation of a disability that currently substantially limits some major life activity including learning.
Please refer to the Specific Documentation Guidelines which are provided in the interest of assuring that documentation is appropriate to verify eligibility and to support requests for reasonable accommodations, academic adjustments, and/or auxiliary aids. The coordinator is available to consult with diagnosticians regarding any of these guidelines.
There is no separate application or application process for students with disabilities. Students with disabilities apply as any student does and must be qualified for admission according to the College’s admissions criteria. Admitted students are strongly advised to contact the Disability Services Coordinator, as soon as they decide to attend the College so that they can submit required documentation in a timely fashion if they plan to request services, including accommodations. Guidelines for required documentation are delineated under “Specific Documentation Guidelines.”
