Bob Smither, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, is a personality psychologist specializing in personality theory and assessment, particularly as applied to the workplace. Personality psychologists work at ways to undertand whole persons rather than parts of all people. Personality psychology tries to answer three questions: (1) How are people alike? (2) How are they different? (3) And how did they get that way?
Smither holds a B.A. in political science from Indiana University, an M.A. in educational psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in psychology from Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of eight books and numerous articles, and at Rollins has served as the Dean of the Hamilton Holt School and Director of the Master of Liberal Studies Program.
