Ranks Rollins College First in the South
August 18, 2006
Rollins College ranks number one among regional
universities in the South in the annual rankings of
"America's Best Colleges," released today by U.S.
News & World Report. This is the second consecutive
year that Rollins has garnered the top spot in this
category. For 10 consecutive years prior, Rollins had
been ranked second among regional universities in the
South and first in Florida.
In the category of "Best Universities - Master's"
(schools that provide a full range of undergraduate and
master's-level programs), Rollins ranked first, while
James Madison University in Virginia ranked second and
Elon University in North Carolina ranked third. Rollins
has been included among the top regional universities
since the influential ranking of the nation's top
schools began in 1987.
"We are pleased that our faculty, staff and students
have received this recognition," said Rollins President
Lewis M. Duncan. "In terms of preparing our graduates
for global citizenship and responsible leadership, the
Rollins experience is invaluable."

Rollins was also ranked first in the South in the
"Great Schools, Great Prices" category for offering the
best value, which relates academic quality with the net
cost of attendance for a student who receives the
average level of financial aid.
The "best college" rankings are based on surveys of
college officials, combined with data provided by
institutions, including student selectivity, faculty
resources, financial resources, graduation rates and
alumni satisfaction.
The weekly edition of U.S. News & World Report
magazine containing the 2007 rankings and the newsstand
book, "America's Best Colleges," will be on newsstands
Monday, August 21.
