The Business Lawyers' Pro Bono Project’s mission is to assist nonprofit organizations in obtaining pro bono legal assistance from a business lawyer. Examples of this legal assistance include drafting or revising articles or bylaws, advising on governance issues, advising on real estate, employment law, intellectual property or grant compliance matters, negotiating or reviewing contracts, giving tax advice, and advising on the merger or consolidation of non-profit organizations.
In order to qualify for this legal assistance, a nonprofit organization must meet the following eligibility requirements:
The organization must complete a short application form and return it to Margaret S. Linnane, c/o the Philanthropy Center, at her below listed address. The application will be reviewed; the organization will be advised if the organization qualifies for pro bono legal assistance, and if a law firm that is participating in the Project is willing to perform the legal work that is requested. If so, the Center will advise the organization who to contact at that law firm. The organization should advise if that law firm is unable, for any reason, to represent it, and the Center will attempt to find another law firm that is participating in the Project to handle that organization’s legal matter. We hope to be responsive to your application within five (5) business days.
If your nonprofit organization qualifies and needs legal assistance from a business lawyer, please contact the Business Lawyers’ Pro Bono Project, care of:
