Certificate in Volunteer Management

In this new and improved two-day workshop designed to meet the needs of the next generation of volunteer managers, participants will learn techniques for recruiting, training, placing, retaining and rewarding volunteers as well as ways to increase the teamwork with staff. Participants will work on group exercises and use case studies to better understand the concepts presented in the workshop.

Upon successful completion of the two sessions, volunteers will be awarded a Rollins College Certificate in Volunteer Management.

Andrea Hendry has worked for and with many agencies throughout our community including Give Kids The World Village, and the United Way. She is currently a Managing Partner of Smart Chicks Consulting, a local consulting firm that specializes in helping agencies do their jobs better and smarter, along with helping companies implement community involvement into their business. As an experienced nonprofit professional, Andrea helps agencies and corporations increase their capacity for volunteer management and optimize community service opportunities. Throughout her career she has sponsored many fundraising events and coordinated countless volunteer experiences both large and small. She excels at engaging corporate volunteers and donors. Also, she has also managed and grown an agency volunteer program to 6,000 local volunteers. In addition, she is the sitting president of the Council of Volunteer Managers throughout the Central Florida area. Prior to her nonprofit leadership experience, she was a leader at the Walt Disney World Resort for more than six years, within the Food and Beverage, Operations, and Entertainment teams.

Emily Furlong is the Senior Program Manager responsible for professional continuing education for nonprofit organizations. She taught What You Should Know About Starting a 501(c)(3) for six years. She is a founding member of two nonprofit organizations and served as executive director of one. Her nonprofit experience includes planning and development, nonprofit and volunteer management, training, and board governance in the fields of domestic violence, senior services, housing, and emergency management.
