For weeks, cans have been gathered all around campus by members of the Rollins community as part of the Helping Hands Across America drive. Members of fraternity and sorority organizations in particular used this initiative to catapult service and unity within their organization, while also promoting a little competition.
Rollins’ Fraternity and Sorority Life invited the whole campus to attend Can-paign Against Hunger at the Alfond Pool on Thursday, November 11. All Campus Events (ACE) co-sponsored the event, which featured Rollins Idol, extreme twister, raffles and a relay race. The only requirement to participate in the festivities was the donation of one can.
At the Can-Paign Against Hunger poolside event, the fraternity and sorority community collected 4,668 cans (3,927 pounds). Overall, the Rollins community donated 16,201 pounds of cans, resulting in a 32 percent increase in cans from last year.
