Heart Walk

For the second consecutive year, the American Heart Association (AHA) recognized Rollins as a Gold Start! Fit-Friendly Company. As a Gold Level Award recipient, Rollins has demonstrated its commitment to cultivating a healthy workplace and fostering a culture of physical activity on campus. The AHA went on to commend Rollins for promoting a wellness culture by implementing physical, nutritional, and cultural changes for employees. Rollins is among an elite group of awardees for this important initiative and will receive recognition on the American Heart Association website.

Earlier this year, Rollins kicked off this program with the “500 Steps for a Healthier You” event which featured a walk around campus followed by healthy cooking demonstrations, food samples and  giveaways of free pedometers, blood pressure checks and literature.

As part of the Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Program, in October Rollins participated in Heart Walk, an American Heart Association event that raised $1 million. Over 11,000 people—including five Rollins teams with nearly 40 team members—sprinted, jogged and walked the three-mile course.

Please stay tuned for future wellness events in 2011.
